In Her Arms (As We Deal with the Coronavirus) - A Poem

This is my latest piece of poetry. As we deal with COVID-19 I am writing to confront the situation we're in, and staying as creative as I can be. A love poem that addresses some of the things I have heard or seen as people struggle to make sense of the pandemic. This poem is a series of pieces of creativity that I have produced since the outbreak has taken place here in Illinois.

As the Virus

locks us in,

locks us down

Determines

our next moves,

destinations, decisions

I envision being

in your arms;

breathing you in;

basking in your

incredible

another level

I am on in your

arms. What panic?!

I am promised

calm when I am close

To the woman I love

And what is more

powerful than love

Even in the most

trying times?

The politicians

Can debate and argue

News stations can

continue to update

and report

and people on

Facebook, Twitter,

and Instagram

can continue to discuss

coronavirus conspiracy

theories, or call the president

whatever they feel

All I want to do

is feel

you next

to me.
