Design + Art 13
Dock 6 has designed and built pieces for Chicago homes, restaurants, and museums alike. Every year, they host an event at their Belmont-Cragin workshop to showcase artists and designers. This year, rather than cancel, they're hosting Dock 6 Design + Art 13 online via Instagram.
This "Stay Home Edition" will spotlight artists and makers, plus the Dock 6 partners themselves, on Saturday, June 27, 1–6pm CST (Dock 6 will go live at 5:45pm).
Airing on IGTV (via the @dock6collective account), the event will include interviews with venerated artists as well as tours of their homes and workspaces. Select interviews will be done by Alison Cuddy, Artistic Director of Chicago Humanities Festival and former WBEZ host.
Full list of the Dock 6 Collective that will be interviewed by Alison Cuddy, and list of designers & artists featured on @dock6collective during the week of June 22 to June 27, is available at https://www.facebook.com/dock6collective/.

It Was A Rebellion has been in development for three years. An early version was performed as a pirate radio broadcast at Homan Square, a former Chicago Police Department black site. It mixes music from the Civil Rights Era and the Black Panther Party, news reports and political speeches, and ephemeral and symbolic sounds to articulate public expressions of Black rage.
It Was A Rebellion (House Mix) plays on the political roots of Black with a Chicago-style dance party vibe.

This piece illustrates that balance for me between my Mexican roots, my love for the jazz tradition and western classical music.
